Peter Verstraten is Assistant Professor of Film and Literary Studies and Chair of the MA Film and Photographic Studies in Leiden. His publications include Film Narratology (2009), Kernthema’s in de filmwetenschap (Boom, 2008), and Celluloid echo’s: Cinema ‘kruist’ postmodernisme (Vantilt, 2004). His dissertation Screening Cowboys (1999) dealt with constructions of masculinity in westerns. He has also published articles about, inter alia, early film fairy tales, the relation between narration and attraction, Jean-Luc Godard’s Pierrot le Fou, Douglas Sirk’s Imitation of Life and Nicholas Roeg’s The Man Who Fell to Earth.
